Default Thes Bestestist of Best 2nd Prof?

General Wondering really,

Necromancer... /... What? Would YOU say is the most efficient and flexible 2nd Prof for use with a necro, with standard builds such as...

SS.
MM.
Vampiric.
.
.
.
Etc.

Also with any other builds *shrugs*

I mean ive tried Monk, Ive seen Warrior and i feel the most obvious choice is Mesmer.

But i am interested in everyones thoughts and builds they use to accomidate controversial Secondary professions also?

When I'm specced for SS I tend to go mesmer secondary for Arcane Echo and the Curses line seems to have a better synergy with the hexes from the mesmer profession. (I'm quite liking the Reckless Haste, Spirit of Failure, Price of Failure combo at the minute.)

I do occassionally swap to monk secondary when using either a blood build or MMing, as Heal Area can heal your minions and patch up any sac damage you take using Blood of the Master or Verata's Sacrifice. To be honest, I don't think Heal Area is essential to MMing but some people swear by it.

If you're playing battery, Blood is Power is a hefty sac spell and you can't always heal up with vampiric spells from the blood line so I sometimes take a monk heal or 2.

If you have some attribs in Soul Reaping it can easily power a copy of Heal Party on missions like Vizunah Square where loads of things are dying and help out your monks a bit.

Mesmer is always my first choice though, probably because I tend to use Curses a lot.

I have a Nec/Mesmer

Archane Echo SS
Sweet way to kill Doppleganger
Interupts (and gain energy while doing it)
Spread my conditions to others (Fragility/Feavered Dreams+plague touch+epidemic)
Removing of hexes from self
Health Degen master
etc.

Nec/Monk
Remove conditions
Remove hexes
Heal minions (and self)
Give minions smite damage (they can inflict smite damage - judge's insight)
Hard Rez
etc.

Nec/Rit
Hard Rez
Weapons spells on minions
Heal minions (and self)
Remove conditions
etc.

I don't know anything about the Assassins, so I can't help you there.

I love my Nec/Mesmer.

Most of the time, I rarely use my 2nd profession. The Necromancer is just so good on its own.

The best advise is, go with whatever you feel most comfortable with. If you don't know, then use the one that offers the best of what the Necromancer is missing. Hex removal, movement, defense, etc.

Hope this helps

First, determin your purpose. The most powerful of the MM, SS, and Vamp are pure Necro builds (from what I've seen). Despite this, you can try using various hybrids of necro and other classes.

Plague Channel N/Mo
Draw Conditions
Plegue Sending (or Plague Touch)
Virulence {E}
Vile Miasma

I find that that's a nice combination for removing conditions (or at least a Condition) then channelling it against an enemy. Plus, you can add a bit of degen to them on top of the conditions by using Vile Miasma. The beauty is that you require Zero attrib spent in prot or curses to use draw condition and Plague Sending

Healing Bombs - N/Mo
Animate Minions
Dwayna's Sorry
Death Nova

When your minions die, if you have Dwayna's Sorrow on them, all party members are healed. Also, Death Nova makes them explode. Just pour points into Death & Healing

(Credit to ikickedbutt for that idea)

Feast of Hexes N/Me
Feast of Corruption (Curses) {E} 10,2,20
Parasitic Bond (Curses) 5,1,2
Vile Miasma (Blood) 10,1,15
Enfeeble (Curses) 5,1,5
Shadow of Fear (Curses) 10,2,5
Phantom Pain (Illusion) 10,2,15
Life Siphon (Blood) 10,2,2
Gaze of Contempt (No Attribute) 15,2,20

I posted this one a while back. It's nice b/c you can use Illusion magic for degen and inflicting conditions.

Telewave N/E
Shockwave {E}
Ward against Foes
Necrotic Traversal

Teleport to a corpse near some warriors, poison them, make them move 50% slower, then hit them with shockwave for 40-120 dmg (proximity pending)

Just get super creative. There are tons of options for creating a necro with a second. Not all of my suggestions are complete builds, but hopefully it's a start for ya'.

as xenoranger said, pure necro builds are the most effective. But sometimes, you need energy management and you'll never find any better class for that than mesmer. that's the only second I use effectively
